Women’s History Month: 15 Quotes for International Women’s Day
In honor of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, we pulled together some of our favorite inspirational quotes from women in leadership across history and at our company. These women have made history, are shattering the glass ceiling, rule the C-suite and inspire those around them each and every day. They come from different backgrounds, specialties and careers, but they all know the true power behind a strong woman.

Now on to the inspiration. . .
“Be resilient! There have been so many times when I’ve been the only woman in the room. Whether it be at my first start-up as a Product Owner or as an executive in a board room or with investors. When you ARE THE DIVERSITY, don’t shy away from it. Show up, be professional and do your job – and most importantly, learn the business. Learn the metrics of the business. Learn the functions and understand the levers that will drive growth and profitability.”
-Jodi McDermott, Chief Product Officer
“Surround yourself with those on the same mission as you. Be composed, be confident, be courageous. Don’t give up, don’t ever give up. (Who doesn’t love that Jimmy V. quote?)”
-Kelley Crawford, Sr. Director of Brand Engagement
“My advice for other women is to stand up for what you believe in. If you are truly passionate, you’ll find a way around the challenges of being a woman.”
-Madhavi Sarabu, Director of User Experience
“As I reflect on the last 20 years, two big challenges stand out for me. The first was learning how to get out of my own way. This meant letting go of what I think others expect of me and focusing instead on being myself. The second was learning how to juggle priorities as a working mom. Recognizing that I can’t do it all helped me learn how to trust and delegate.”
-Jill Sanderson, Sr. Agile Coach
“It’s okay to ask for help. It’s okay to make a mistake, admit defeat and even fail. We should reflect on our mistakes and failures and learn from them.”
-Katy Burgwyn, Brand Engagement manager
“This life and the work you do are not a dress rehearsal. Remember that every day and be the best version of yourself/leader that you can.”
-Karen Waggener, Chief Financial Officer
“Model the behavior you want to see.”
-Niki Dobbins, Senior Manager of Client Support
Influential Women in History
Women have been defining history for decades. As we build off the past, live in the present and prepare for the future, here are some empowering quotes from women who have made and are making history in their fields:
“Never limit yourself because of others’ limited imagination; never limit others because of your own limited imagination.”
-Dr. Mae Jemison, astronaut, engineer and physician
“Do not let others define who you are. Define yourself. Do not be limited by what others expect of you but reach confidently for the stars.”
-Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson, physicist and educator
"One of the lessons that I grew up with was to always stay true to yourself and never let what somebody else says distract you from your goals."
-Michelle Obama, lawyer, writer, former First Lady of the United States
“The most effective way to do it is to do it.”
-Amelia Earhart, aviation pioneer and author
“One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever gotten is from my mom: ‘You get to choose how you react to things, and people can’t make you feel one way or another.’ You have agency over every reaction, in your work or personal life. It’s incredibly empowering to know that, and to really take advantage of that.”
-Kerry Steib, Director of Social Impact at Spotify
