Preventive maintenance is just half the facility battle. To have a complete plan for action, add in capital planning.

Thom Rainer recently shared a list of the top 10 questions pastors ask him, and number two was: What do I do about our aging facilities? We’ll all come across this dilemma eventually, and for churches, you have to balance the needs of your congregation with your limited resources. However, there are ways that you can not only prepare for when the time comes for repairs but also prevent it from arriving prematurely.

Preventive maintenance (PM) should go hand in hand with your capital planning efforts. Although you most likely have limited time (and multiple responsibilities to juggle), there are still valuable steps that you can take to successfully prepare for the future and keep your church in great condition for generations.
