What do rose bushes along the front of Napa vineyards and benchmarking your team's performance in your institution’s technology department have to do with each other? As Jed DeGroote, Community Manager and one of our SchoolDude data experts, explained during his presentation at the CoSN Conference in Washington D.C., both the rose bushes and performance tracking are indicators.
In Napa, the health of the rose bush on the front of each vineyard row is an indicator of the health of the grapes. It saves farmers time using a quick indicator of vineyard performance. Similarly, Key Performance Indicators, or KPIs, are an indicator for technology and operations departments of the health of your team compared to your peer schools.
Tracking your performance through KPIs help operations departments not only internally measure performance, but can also help close the perception gap of what your team does to management and other stakeholders.
How do you close that perception gap?
Closing the perception gap allows Technology and Operations Departments to demonstrate what they do and their success to stakeholders across the institution.
