St. Charles Parish Public Schools, a school district in southeast Louisiana, is now using its mobile safety platform CrisisManager. Home to nearly 10,000 K-12 students and 1,700 employees across 28 building locations, St. Charles Parish Public Schools’ administrators, faculty, staff and parents have immediate access to safety plans on their mobile devices via CrisisManager.
“As a school district known for its cutting-edge approach to technology, it was critical for us to get important safety information into our parents’ hands on their mobile devices,” said Felecia Gomez-Walker, superintendent, St. Charles Parish Public Schools. “We will continue to enhance our safety plans and their accessibility to ensure a safe, positive school experience.”
The mobile app details instructions for emergency response scenarios including school closures and evacuations, inclement weather, active shooter, bomb threat, student injury and other crisis situations. Parents will have full access to the St. Charles Parish Public Schools’ parent/guardian emergency guide, developed to address multiple crisis situations and responses, on the CrisisManager mobile app.
“Our approach to preparing for emergencies is multi-layered, including paper-based guides, flip books and now mobile-based response plans,” said Kade Rogers, coordinator of safety, security and emergency preparedness, St. Charles Parish Public Schools. “With CrisisManager, we are able to make actionable safety plans quickly accessible via smartphones to all administrators, faculty, staff and parents.”
St. Charles Parish Public Schools has been at the forefront of education and a leader among Louisiana’s public schools since the mid 1970s. Currently, nine elementary schools, four middle schools, two high schools and six centers serve the students and families of St. Charles Parish.
