This past year, SchoolDude announced the creation of the Joan W. Maddox Award of Excellence to recognize individuals who provide stellar customer service to their faculty, staff, students and community.
More than 30 nominations were submitted for this year’s inaugural award. While the selection committee was impressed by all of the nominees, the essay recognizing Bill Partin, Maintenance Director of Stewart County School System in Tennessee, stood out above the rest.
Bill was recognized by Leta Joiner, Director of the Stewart County School System. In her essay she noted:
“Bill and his wife moved to the small community of Dover, Tennessee, to retire after his long career with the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. As fate would have it, the home Bill purchased was next to the Stewart County School District’s Middle School and Maintenance shop. Before long, Bill became aware of many issues within our county and this good man soon came out of retirement to serve his new community. As he said in my first conversation with him, “I will do this job to help the children of Stewart County.
From the moment I met Bill, I knew things would never be the same.
In short order, Bill merged the Maintenance Departments for the school district and the Stewart County Government. This unconventional merger resulted in the ability to maximize the expertise and technical abilities of both small maintenance crews with the end result of greater efficiency for both.
Through Bill’s example of service to others, hard work and loyalty, our morale has never been higher and our employees have never experienced such efficient, effective maintenance service. Bill sets operational benchmarks for his staff, celebrates milestones, and motivates workers in service and efficiency. Our Maintenance team now embraces every challenge and our individual workers take pride in their vocation as they serve our schools and our town.”
On Tuesday, March 17 at SchoolDude University in Myrtle Beach, SC, Bill Partin was presented with the first Joan W. Maddox Excellence Award in Customer Service. SchoolDude University is the annual user conference for SchoolDude clients, and the largest professional development and peer networking event for education operations professionals held each year.
