One of the common emails I often get are from faculty or from community groups who are trying to get to the MySchoolBuilding.com or CommunityUse portal to submit requests to MaintenanceDirect, Incident, FSDirect, TripDirect and/or InventoryDirect, but are getting lost.
I often try to ask the registrant why or how they came to the wrong site, and this is a typical response I will get:
No one really explained anything.
XXXXX from XXXXX office told me to contact the school and ask them what to do to request school use.
The school secretary told me to go to the School Dude website and if I needed anything else it should probably come from Girl Scouts.
Also XXXXX School's web site takes you to a page and you enter a account number for organization. I did not have an account number to plug in so it was very confusing.
Hope this helps you and glad this is getting resolved.
Thank you again
First, there is a method to have your organization's account number in the MySchoolBuilding.com requester page. Here is an example where you can replace your SchoolDude account number where x's are contained (note that your account number is in the top right corner when you are logged into SchoolDude):
Another way to get that web address is in your Account Setup, and click on the MySchoolBuilding Setup Wizard. The last step is often your specific account's web address.
Not at all. It comes standard with MaintenanceDirect, Incident, FSDirect, TripDirect and/or InventoryDirect. If you add a solution, a new tab automatically appears in the MySchoolBuilding site.
Anywhere that someone can click on it: it could be on a web page, it could be a Favorite site in someone's web browser, it could be a link on someone's computer desktop, or all of the above.
Consider having a link in multiple places. If you have an "Employee Portal" and a page for "Departments", why not have a copy of links in both places?
Oh yeah! By default, MySchoolBuilding.com goes to the first tab, which is often "Maintenance Request" for thousands of our users. But, what if the IT Department wants to set up a link on their webpage to go directly to Incident's IT Request tab, or perhaps a direct link to the Schedule Request tab to submit events into FSDirect? Gonzales Unified School District does this well by having links that go to the same MySchoolBuilding.com portal, but quickly accesses different tabs of the site to save clicking for the end users. They placed links in various department webpages for Facilities, Technology, Employees and Support Services to reduce any "where is that link?" syndrome.
Here are links to use and replace with your account number:
MySchoolBuilding Maint Request tab:
MySchoolBuilding IT Request tab:
MySchoolBuilding Schedule Request tab:
MySchoolBuilding Inventory Request tab:
MySchoolBuilding Trip Request tab:
Want a cheatsheet to help you out? Download the SchoolDude MSB URL Generator Excel spreadsheet where you can enter your SchoolDude Account Number and see the resulting web addresses to give to your webmaster.
Just one and that's for our CommunityUse application that links to FSDirect for outside organizations, but it's a similar scenario. Replace the x's in the web address with your account number:
Outside organization contacts can register to use the site. If you approve that person as a user, they can submit community use requests to follow your chain of command for event approvals.
NOTE: Our CommunityUse application is a separate module for those schools that do allow outside groups to use their facilities. It acts as a public portal to the FSDirect calendar data for approved events you don't mind showing to the public. For more information, feel free to contact us!
ADDITIONAL NOTES: Other authentication methods are available that could affect these links such as ConnectAuthenticate that will use alternative sign-on capabilities.
