I've worked on the marketing team at SchoolDude since 2013. I currently am the Public K-12 Marketing Manager and serve the Public K-12 market with helpful resources and trends that can help them in their day-to-day work. I work closely with the sales organization and several other departments to ensure clients and the public have a clear understanding of what SchoolDude does and the benefits our solutions provide to educational institutions. It’s exciting to work in marketing everyday and see clients succeed and schools benefit from using SchoolDude. I grew up in Virginia and graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Business- Wahoowa!
Kathryn Ward has been an Application Engineer for SchoolDude since 2011. Kathryn provides world-class support and works closely with our clients to ensure their success, anticipate challenges our clients face, and deliver practical solutions to overcome them.
This past week, SchoolDude had the pleasure of participating in the 6th Annual VSPMA Conference held in Norfolk, VA. Sunday evening our own Rebecca Powers dominated in the Cornhole Tournament - what a fun way to start the week! Monday we were very busy at our vendor booth. We were lucky to have Andrew LaRowe from BAISCA set up right beside us to share the new Building Assessment Services he is offering through SchoolDude. We also were joined by Carsie Denning and his FSAutomation and Critical Alarm Automation box, which demonstrates how a school’s BAS and SchoolDude’s automation products integrate and work in real-time; this gave our clients a first-hand view of how amazing our automation solutions really are!
Jack Spain, Rebecca Powers, and I were in the booth talking to many schools across Virginia and touching base with our Virginia clients. That evening, we set sail with the whole group on the Norfolk Spirit Cruise. It was a great evening of good food, good company, and good music by Wide Eyed Boo. We were only two days in, but those two days were jam-packed!
Tuesday morning came fast and we were very excited to have our own track of classes this year. SchoolDude taught a total of 12 classes this year. A few highlights were Facility Masters with Roger Young discussing best practices, Key Performance Indicators and how to benchmark yourself from Jack Spain, Automation Solutions with Carsie Denning, Giving Your Best Client Service (in honor of Joan Maddox) with Steven Abee, and The Seven Deadly Sins of Facility Directors by yours truly! We also had our account representatives Brad Hunter, Pat Buchanan, and Rebecca Powers working hard with clients throughout the day. Tuesday evening was another grand dinner with some amazing blue grass music by the James River Cut Ups that includes our very own client, Kimberly Rhodes! After a final presentation Wednesday morning, we all said our farewells.
SchoolDude got a lot out of the VSPMA conference this year and schools across Virginia seemed to learn new strategies in the presentations and enjoy their evenings as well We appreciate the amazing hospitality from the VSPMA board and look forward to doing it all again next October!
