I first joined the SchoolDude team in May of 2011 as a college intern while I completed by Business Administration degree at North Carolina State University. After graduation, I joined SchoolDude full-time on the Success Operations Team. I currently assist SuccessOps, a department of our Client Service Center, with our Success Webinars and Podcasts, Client Service Center content, and data mining. In my free time, I enjoy playing sports, watching the NC State Wolfpack play and spending time with friends and family in my hometown.

By using the reporting options in MaintenanceDirect along with the Dude Data Dashboard, Matt Bennett, Coordinator of Buildings and Grounds with Litchfield School District SAU #27 has been able to show his staff and key leaders the progress they have made as a maintenance department over the past several years.
Matt compared his team’s performance today with their performance in 2010 by reviewing their work order per student per year count for each year. Matt was very pleased to see that their work load tracked in MaintenanceDirect went from 0.88 Work Orders/Student/Year in 2010 to 1.28 Work Orders/Student/Year for 2013. Matt explains, “Our tracked work load increased due to ACCOUNTABILITY and COMPLIANCE to the School Policy. Our motto is “If it’s not in SchoolDude, then it does not exist!” As a district we stopped doing tasks on the fly and required work orders to be filled out.”
To stick to their motto, Matt’s team relies heavily on the requester portal, MySchoolBuilding.com, to have requesters submit their own work orders to help cut down on data entry time. Litchfield is performing above the top 20th percentile of their market segment by receiving 85% of their work orders from the MySchoolBuilding page. Matt says, “Without a doubt the MySchoolBuilding page has earned us additional time due to the reduction of phone calls and our men being pulled aside for different requests when they’re out in the field. We still get emails and calls but unless it’s an emergency or they agree to fill out the work order request on the spot, then it cannot get done. Once the staff realized it was not about us not wanting to work on their request right away, but that it was about tracking the job, our compliance went up expeditiously.”
Now that all of Litchfield’s work is being tracked and documented they have valuable information to present to key leaders. Matt said, “I use SchoolDude information to sell my idea. I can gather the information and then present to the board using the numbers. The most important stats I can show are productivity and time used to complete tasks. One area we are deficient in is staffing, with SchoolDude I can show the amount of work we do now in comparison to what we have done in years past, which in turn helps me fight for my staff.”
